Back in February last year, GameEx released a statement announcing four upcoming projects as a 'farewell' to LittleBigPlanet. These were:
- GameExpo Play! - A brand-new GameExpo Console for the line's 8th anniversary with built-in games from the GameExpo, GameExpo II and GameExpo III, as well as the ability to play any legacy content.
- Quadratum Ludio - A Quadratum player for players to be able to play legacy content without having to scour the depths of LittleBigPlanet for an unofficial release.
- NeXT Lite - A brand-new lightweight and open-source NeXT for LittleBigPlanet 3 that replaces the NeXT S and NeXT Basic - with little thermometer usage and ease-of-use for beginners in mind.
- NeXT v2.5 - The much anticipated third LBP3 update to NeXT that was finalised in December 2018 but ultimately remained within the T-Games Legacy Archives.
Unfortunately, GameEx shut their doors in June of 2019, and the fate of these projects remained uncertain.
Well, I can announce that in celebration of T-Games 9th anniversary, T-Games Legacy has authorised the continued development for these projects - now lead independently by BillyAnderson9 on behalf of T-Games Legacy!
NeXT v2.5 was released April 29, 2020 and has since been given 4 more updates, including Mini Update 8. It is now considered complete.
NeXT Lite was released May 6, 2020 and is collectable from the LittleBigPlanet 3 NeXT Hub
Quadratum Ludio has been developed further, and is now considered prime for release. T-Games Legacy is currently awaiting further information regarding the final details.
GameExpo Play!'s development is progressing slower, but is currently being worked on in collaboration with GemWay. A release date of June 26, 2020 is looking promising - the 9th anniversary of GameExpo.
...and there we have it! LegacyEx is back in business!
